Gordon Brown, founder of Alliance to Advance Animal Rights Education, was an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California from 1988 to 2005. During his stay at Grossmont he taught courses in symbolic logic, critical thinking, introductory philosophy, and ethics. He also served as Faculty Advisor of E.A.R.T.H., the College's environmentalist organization, and was instrumental in bringing guest lecturers on animal rights and environmentalism to the campus. Gordon's interest in animal-rights philosophy dates back to 1982, when he began studying the work of Tom Regan, Peter Singer, James Rachels, Henry S. Salt, and others. He is currently authoring a collection of essays entitled Taking Speciesism Seriously: Reflections on the World's Most Pervasive Bigotry. Gordon's interests are wide- ranging: For over 20 years he has been a classical-music radio announcer, formerly with KFSD FM 94.1 in San Diego, then KFSD-FM 92.1, KFSD-AM 1450, and currently with 104.9 FM XLNC1. He is also an avid developer of computer software and Web sites, and has designed the site that you see here. Gordon also develops and maintains the website of Animals Deserve Absolute Protection Today and Tomorrow (ADAPTT), an animal-rights organization headquartered in Michigan. When he's not hard at work on his computer, Gordon likes to ride his road bike for 70 to 90 miles each week, go contradancing, and collect recordings of classical music and jazz.
